From the recording Interstellar Pirate Queen
A song made almost entirely from notes on a lecture about how to write a commercially successful pop song. Make it happy. Keep it simple. Make it upbeat. Use lots of repetition. Make it a love song. Give it a danceable, hip beat. Tie it in with traditional old school hits. And make it something a twelve year old who has no musical training will warble along with in the shower. I tried.
Sometimes a spectacular failure is still worth experiencing!
Vocals (including various warblings and hoots) Marilyn Rucker, Gary Feist, Sharon Maner and Becky Cavanaugh
Bass: Gary Feist
Drums: Masumi Jones
Additonal Percussion: A.J. Montrose
Lyrics
My Happy Pop Song
Here’s the chorus of my happy pop song
Bubbling beautifully babbling right along
Upbeat danceable melody
Old school groove with a new world beat.
Repetition Repetition
Repetition Rinse, Repeat
Repetition Repetition
Old school groove with a new world beat.
I am happy and in love
From head to toe to dorsal fins
I am happy and in love
You fill me up with endorphins.
Repetition Repetition
Repetition Rinse, Repeat
Repetition Repetition
Old school groove with a new world beat.
Yes I’m happy and in love
Despite the dang Republicans
I am happy and in love
You fill me up with endorphins
Repetition Repetition
Repetition Rinse Repeat
Repetition Repetition
Old school groove with a new world beat.
Lift (Up a half step)
Repetition Repetition
Repetition Rinse Repeat
Repetition Repetition
Old school groove with new world beat.
